Christopher Commander, former Project Shakespeare student and ConVal graduate, will return this summer as an associate director.
Commander last appeared in Project Shakespeare’s production of “Hamlet” traveling to Stratford-upon-Avon, England in August 2014 to perform at Royal Shakespeare Theatre’s outdoor stage, The Dell. While the other eight actors returned to the United States, Commander remained in England, his birthplace and home, to pursue a professional acting career.
Commander will direct Project Shakespeare Too! students (ages 7-12) in a production called “Shakespeare In Love” with scenes, speeches, songs and dances from Shakespeare’s great love stories, including “As You Like It,” “Twelfth Night,” “Much Ado About Nothing,” and “Romeo and Juliet.” He will also assistant direct “Macbeth” with Deborah Shakespeare Thurber.
Project Shakespeare’s Summer Season is still accepting applications from students 7 to 18 years old. No experience is necessary but all interested candidates should be self-motivated and engaged students.
