Proposed operating budget: $13,927,031
Articles 6 requests that the town direct the ConVal School Board to conduct a study of the feasibility and suitability of the withdrawal of one or more member towns from the Contoocook Valley Regional School District.
This article is by petition. Article 7 would raise $20,000 to fund the study. Both of these articles will be on the ballot on May 10.
Article 8 would fund improvements and reconstruction of the Main Street Bridge, which connects Main Street to Route 202 and Pine Street.
The total cost of the project, including designing, engineering, constructing and replacing the Main Street Bridge and Improvements to Route 202 and Pine Street is $5,693,000.
It is intended that this project will be supported by Federal Highway Administration/New Hampshire Department of Transportation Municipal Bridge Aid funds, which will cover 80 percent of the cost.
The remainder will be paid for by bond. This article requires a 2/3 ballot vote, which will be cast at Town Meeting on May 11.
Articles 10 and 11 would take $60,000 funds from the West Peterborough TIF District Fund to fund the reconstruction of the Untion Street Bridge.
The remaining cost – $250,000 – will come from the state Bridge Aid Program. This article will be voted upon at Town Meeting on May 11.
