To the editor:
The letter from Gary Carpenter on April 19 asks “Economic development – whose job is it?” In that same issue of the Ledger-Transcript a couple of stories describe proposed steps to deal with the skyrocketing costs of educating a child in the ConVal school system.
I believe the answer to Gary’s question is certainly “All of us.” Imagine if all the energy and expense associated with more studies could be focused on economic development. Perhaps businesses would reconsider leaving town and others might consider locating here.
When the time comes to attend Peterborough’s Town Meeting, do it! If you can vote, do it! Choose positive votes supporting economic development, and choose candidates who do so also. Let’s start filling up our schools with children so we don’t have to do so many studies and our community will be vibrant again.
