If you have unused or expired medications cluttering up your medicine cabinet, this weekend is your opportunity to ensure that they are properly disposed of.
Multiple departments around the region are taking place in the semi-annual National Drug Take Back day this Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
At the Mason, Peterborough, Wilton, Dublin and Jaffrey Police Departments, residents can drop off prescription and non-prescription medications, which will be destroyed.
No questions will be asked.
The take back program is sponsored and enforced by the Drug Enforcement Agency and does not accept illegal substances or sharps.
It is advised not to flush your old medications or to dump them down the sink. Water treatment plants are not equipped to deal with filtering out such medications and there are instances of prescription medications being found in the water supply.
For more information, contact your local participating police department.
