A Rindge Memorial School student was behind the recent bomb threat at the school, according to police.
Detective Jeffrey Seppala said Friday that the male student will not face police charges, but will face discipline from the Jaffrey-Rindge School District.
“The incident appeared to be retaliation for some personal things,” said Seppala. “There was never any real danger to the school.”
RMS was evacuated to the nearby Meeting House April 13 after school officials found the bomb threat, written in crayon, in one of the bathrooms. Seppala said the note was “short” and “to the point.” Seppala said the police investigation has concluded.
Jaffrey-Rindge Superintendent Reuben Duncan said the school will work with the student to ensure that he knew the impact of his actions.
“In a situation like this, we want to make sure the student is learning from his or her actions,” said Duncan. “We also want to make sure that since the student took away from the school in some way, he is able to give back to the school.”
Duncan said administration throughout the district and school are working with the student to identify a “good plan” for the student to give back to the school in a meaningful way.
