The Monadnock Writers’ Group will hold its monthly meeting Saturday at 9:45 a.m. in the downstairs meeting room at the Peterborough Town Library.

The speaker will be Regie Gibson. Poet, songwriter, author, workshop facilitator, and educator, Gibson has performed, taught, and lectured at schools, universities, theaters and various other venues on two continents and in seven countries including Havana, Cuba.

He is a former National Poetry Slam Individual Champion, and was selected as one of Chicago Tribune’s Artist of the Year for Excellence for his poetry.  He has been regularly featured on NPR and has appeared on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam. His work appears in the 1997 New Line Cinema film “love jones,” based largely on events in his life. He has worked with many other artists in a wide variety of musical genres including world, Celtic, jazz, blues, salsa, and classical European.

The meeting is free and open to the public.
