Fifty-five youth basketball teams descended on the area this weekend for the NH Gym Rats “Go Hard or Go Home” tournament. Winners were crowned in 13 divisions.

7th grade girls: Gym Rats — Pickering
7th grade boys: Gym Rats — Matte
9th/10th grade girls: Holyoke Lady Knights (Massachusetts)
8th grade girls: Windsor Comets (Vermont)
6th grade girls: BDS (Hudson)
4th/5th grade girls: Central Force (Lakes Region)
6th grade boys: NE Storm (Merrimack Valley)
5th grade boys: U32 Blue Raiders (Vermont)
4th grade boys: Upper Valley Thunder (Vermont)
On Saturday morning at Peterborough Elementary School, fans were treated to a showdown between what will likely be many future ConVal, Conant and Mascenic varsity players.
The Cougar Youth Basketball Club team, coached by Kevin Proctor, battled the Gym Rats, coached by Wiley Billings, to overtime, where Morgan Bemont of Peterborough made a go-ahead layup and then made a block on the other end to seal the deal. Bemont scored a team-high six points in CYBC’s 24-22 victory.
Annika Martel of New Ipswich had seven blocks in the game and scored 10 points, all in the second half
