Q. Why did you start your business in the Monadnock region?
A. Eleven years ago, I was driving through Jaffrey for the first time. It was October, and all the scarecrows were out. It was a beautiful fall evening. As I drove through I said to myself “If I ever get to have my own little spa, this is the town I want to do it in.” I just got the best feeling being in Jaffrey. A few years later in 2008, my dream came true.
Q. What is your experience of doing business in the area?
A. Aside from my 3-year-old daughter and my life with her and my husband, nothing has made me feel more fulfilled than being a small business owner in Jaffrey for the past eight years. The small town community feeling is wonderful and many of my clients have become very dear to me. I love when someone new discovers Luxe, whether a local or someone vacationing in the area, and they say “I’m so glad I found you!” It’s one of the best feelings in the world. There’s a lot of loyalty to be had in a small town as opposed to a bigger one. I love the relationships I’ve gained here.
Q. What improvements to the business environment would you recommend, to help businesses in the region succeed?
A. Honestly, I think those at Team Jaffrey work so hard to help promote our businesses in an affordable way for all involved. Surely businesses helping promote each other would be helpful. Word of mouth is so important! I try to tell my clients about good experiences myself or other clients have had at local businesses. It’s one thing we can do for each other and it costs nothing!
