Circled around three different tables, children sort through various pieces of mosaic tile, searching for the perfect piece.
Each table has a section of what, when put together, will be a single piece of artwork representing the Florence Rideout Elementary School Mascot. Currently, students are working from the outward in on a base sketch, labeled with the what color of tile should go where, like a 3-D paint-by-numbers board.
The project is part of an artist-in-residence program at the school with mosaic artist Liz Van Saun. Van Saun has been an artist and teacher for over a decade.ย
Van Saun is a teaching artist on the roster for the N.H. State Council on the Arts, a member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists, Contemporary Mosaic Artists and the N.H. Womenโs Caucus for Art and N.H. Made.ย
