Burlington, Vermont-based rock group Gang Of Thieves has made several appearances at Harlow’s Pub over the last few years, and they’ll bring their signature “thunderfunk” back Friday at 9:30 p.m.
“Harlow’s just has mojo oozing off the walls,” said guitarist Nick Wood. “For us, it’s so easy to play a good show and play the way our art was intended in a room like that.” The gang has added a new drummer, James Ralls, since their last appearance, but the sound remains the same, as does their mission — tour nonstop and blow up the “Mothership,” their old van that’s filled with more funk than one of their setlists. They’ve been raising funds to detonate the van since last year, a process they found trickier to safely pull off than expected.
“We really want to blow up the van,” said bassist Tobin Salas, “but we also want to not die.”
Those in attendance may get an early listen to some new material, as GoT has been working hard in the studio.
“We’ve got a lot of funky new music coming at you,” Salas said.
