The Monadnock Farm and Community Coalition invites the public to its 2016 Spring forum, “Improving Local Food Access to Moderate and Low Income Communities” on April 26 from 9:30 a.m. to noon, at Heberton Hall (next to the Keene Public Library).
The event is free and open to the public. Childcare will be provided.
This community forum will deepen the dialogue and working relationships between the social services sector and the local food movement, identify barriers to purchasing local food, and highlight work that is already increasing the availability of locally grown food for individuals.
The community conversation will begin with what we know: How health and local food are connecte and how access, affordability and equity in our local food system impact healthy outcomes for everyone, especially low income communities.
Antioch University New England PhD Fellow Jess Gerrior will briefly share from her graduate studies on national issues that impact local food access. Breakout groups will follow. More details about this forum can be found at www.mfccoalition.org.
