The winner of a contest to design a park around the parking lot to be built off Grove Street solicited public opinions all afternoon Tuesday.
Architect Silvia Benedito met with elected officials and members of the public starting at 3 p.m.
The MacDowell Colony and the town selected Benedito as the winner earlier this month of a contest to design a park next to the 60-space lot to be built later this year. Her vision is for the parking lot to be surrounded by a hemlock forest, a network of trails, fire pits and a dog run, and a picturesque, New England view of the Town House.
The Select Board has requested Benedito’s consulting services. Rodney Bartlett, the town administrator, said finalizing the design could last four to six months, and will involve the public.
