Greenfield town officials will look internally to replace departing DPW Buildings and Grounds Manager Patrick Greene.
In a letter to the Select Board, Greene said his last day would be April 12, and he hoped to use his remaining vacation days before he left. Town Administrator Aaron Patt said Greene was leaving for another municipality, in an interview Wednesday morning.
“The board approved the position posting last night so that the job can be posted internally first,” said Patt. The department currently has four full-time employees, according to Patt.
Greene was hired on May 28, 2015, shortly after the town opted to split the DPW supervisor position into a buildings and grounds manager and a roads manager, with Neal Beauregard being hired the same day as the town’s road manager.
The Select Board made the decision to split the position last year because in many cases, buildings and grounds maintenance was receiving less attention.
The town had been looking to fill the position since Feb. 25, when Tim Murray resigned from his post as DPW supervisor. Murray had been an employee of the town for four years.
