Writing a poem is not a clean process. There are revisions, notes, and strikethroughs. Cahaley Markman believes this process in itself is a part of the finished poem.
In 2015, Markman, along with Dylan Debelis, founded a new publication, Pelorus Press, which publishes the writing process along with the finished product.
Markman will visit the Peterborough Town Library to talk about Pelorus Press and the writing process on April 9ย at 3 p.m.
Markman is a Peterborough native residing in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated in 2012ย from Sarah Lawrence College,ย where she studied poetry with Jeff McDaniel and Martha Rhodes. Her writing is a meditation on those quiet empty moments and familial relationships. She has previously taught at Phillips Exeter Academyโs Writers Workshop and attended the Frost Place Conference on Poetry.
The first edition of Pelorus Press is available for circulation at the library.
