Through the efforts of Peterborough and Sharon recyclers a total of 53.6 tons was recycled in the month of February.
In tons, the following is the breakdown of items recycled:
Newspaper: 2.56
Cardboard: 7.8
Mixed paper: 14.82
Plastics: 1.86
Aluminum cans: .58
Steel cans: .88
Food waste: 1
Glass: 21
Textiles: 3.1
By recycling a total of 53.6 tons, $5,842.40 in disposal fees was avoided in February and $9,481.52 in revenue was generated. A total of $15,323.92 was saved.
The Peterborough Recycling Center will hold a certified document shredding company at the facility on May 7 from noon to 3 p.m.
