Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center’s Accessible Recreation and Sports (CMARS) adaptive snow sports program seeks volunteer ski and snow board instructors for the upcoming season. Held on the slopes of Crotched Mountain Ski & Ride, the CMARS snow sports program is designed specifically for people with disabilities and is led by licensed and certified therapeutic recreation specialists (CTRS/L) and more than 60 trained volunteers.

People interested in volunteering are invited to attend an informational session and orientation on Sunday, Nov. 13 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Crotched Mountain Ski & Ride.

“Every winter people with disabilities throughout the region have the opportunity to experience the thrill of skiing and snowboarding using individualized adaptive equipment and instruction, and our volunteers are essential to the program’s success,” said Kristin Harris, CMARS Program Coordinator. “We encourage anyone who has a passion for snow sports and a desire to volunteer to join us for orientation and learn how they can help others experience the freedom and exhilaration of the slopes.”

All CMARS adaptive snow sports program volunteers receive complementary lift passes on lesson days at Crotched Mountain Ski & Ride.

Following orientation, pre-season training clinics for volunteers will be held in November and December. Volunteers must commit to a minimum of one lesson per week (approximately three hours per week) from January 2, through mid-March, 2017. No teaching experience is necessary.
