The Folksoul Ensemble will be the featured band at the Parish Hall Open Stage on Friday, Oct. 7, held at the parish hall at the Unitarian Universalist Church.
The Folksoul Ensemble includes Rebecca Simmons, on fiddle and vocals, Dan Wheeler on stand-up bass, Fred Simmons on trombone, guitar and vocals; and Leslie Vogel on keyboard, accordion and vocals. The musical styles include folk, jazz, country, soul, and originals.
Simmons and Vogel of Greenfield are the founders of Folksoul Music, which is the umbrella organization for their three bands; Tattoo, the Folksoul Band, and the Folksoul Ensemble; and their annual Folksoul Music Festival, which showcases regional acoustic bands every summer.
The open mic will begin at 7:30 p.m. with performances before and after the feature at 8:30 p.m., and ending at 10 p.m.
