Dave Wright of Wilton walked out of the Wilton Public and Gregg Free Library with a $1,000 cash prize for his dramatic photo of a lotus corniculatus, commonly known in North America as bird’s-foot deervetch, a naturalized plant in the pea family.
Second place went to Amy Neel of Wilton.
Over 50 contestants competed for the Wilton Conservation Commission’s first Wild Wilton photo contest during the month of July.
The contest, along with citizens science programs, trail walks and a library lecture series coming this winter, are part of the Conservation Commission’s new community outreach programs.
The top 12 finalists and winner are on display in the Wilton library rotunda for the month of August.
They will then move to the Wilton Town Hall.
The other submissions will find their way to displays on-line and in merchant stores over the next few months.
