Biased coverageof femalecandidates?

To the editor:

Recently I read in The Christian Science Monitor, and have heard it from other sources as well, that news coverage of the female presidential candidates is not as thorough or serious as that of the male candidates. One example of this is the photo of Amy Klobuchar on the cover of last Tuesdayโ€™s Ledger-Transcript. Instead of showing her making one of her many substantial points, sheโ€™s shown having a good laugh. Did she laugh? Yes. Who doesnโ€™t? But does it represent her as looking qualified to be president? And the goofy headline, โ€œSheโ€™s a fan of the earthโ€ doesnโ€™t indicate any weight to her proposed policies on climate change. Is that the image or lame sort of headline youโ€™d likely publish of Beto Oโ€™Rourke or Bill Weld?

Come on, people! All the candidates are seriously contending for the most consequential role in this country, perhaps on the planet. Please cover them with equal weight so that your readers can make a well-informed choice of who will do the best job. Thank you.
