There is plenty to look forward to as summer begins to drift away and we ease into fall. Read on to see what’s coming up soon over in Rindge.
Jaffrey-Rindge MLK Committee: The Jaffrey-Rindge MLK Committee is set to resume its work planning for the January 2023 Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration. This committee is currently meeting virtually, and welcomes new members from the area. You don’t have to be from Jaffrey or Rindge to join. Meetings are held monthly in the evening from September to January. Please contact jaffreyrindgemlk@gmail.com to learn more or to attend a meeting.
Crazy 8s Club at the library: Math meets mischief at the Ingalls Memorial Library this fall. Children in grades three to five are invited to participate in the Crazy 8s Club, a hands-on math games program that meets after school on Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. for eight weeks beginning Sept. 15. Each week, the club will explore a new math theme and fun and interesting ways to learn it. Registration is required. Email info@ingallslibrary.com or call 603-899-3303 to learn more.
Harvest Fair: The Rindge Woman’s Club is hosting its annual Harvest Fair on Saturday, Sept. 24, after a two-year hiatus. The event will be held at the Rindge Recreation Department from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Raffles, home and garden crafts and goods, baked treats and a café will be among the offerings at this year’s fair.
The event will also feature Dan Yelin, a well-known local antiques dealer, who will be available to assess and describe items brought for him to evaluate. Yelin will accept donations for his service, which will be later donated. Funds raised at this year’s Harvest Fair are used by the Rindge Woman’s Club to give back to the community.
Music at the Museum: Also on Saturday, Sept. 24, the Rindge Historical Society will be hosting a second open mic event at the Rindge History Museum on School Street from 1 to 5 p.m. Advanced sign-up is not required, and there is a suggested donation of $5 to attend. Bring a lawn chair, taste some complimentary desserts, share your own musical talents or simply sit back and enjoy. Parking available at the Rindge Memorial School. Rain or shine (event will move indoors if it rains). The museum will be open during this event.
Conservation Commission Hike and Paddle Series: The Rindge Conservation Commission’s annual summer Hike and Paddle Series continues with a hike on Sept. 25 at the Miriam Hunt Memorial Forest, located off Route 119 heading east (just past School Street). This guided hike will be held rain or shine, and will be led by the town’s Conservation Commission or corps members. Protect yourself with bug spray and sunscreen, and bring water to drink while you learn about and enjoy the Miriam Hunt Forest.
