The most-recent winners of the Naumburg Chamber Music Competition, the Merz Trio, will perform as part of Music on Norway Pond’s Concert Series Sunday, May 29, at 4 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 47 Main St., Hancock.

The Boston-based Merz Trio is known for their passionate playing and artistic programming style, interspersing classic trio works with interdisciplinary elements and their own arrangements. The trio has swept recent U.S. chamber music awards, taking top prizes at the 2021 Naumburg, 2019 Concert Artists Guild, 2019 Fischoff, and 2018 Chesapeake competitions. Upcoming debut appearances include performances at New York City’s Merkin Hall, Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

In Hancock, the trio will present music by Shostakovich, Brahms, Ravel and their own arrangement of four songs of Alma Mahler and Alban Berg in a program called “Enchanted Cities.” The concert will from 4 to 5 pm. with no intermission.
