Hancock Town Library will feature an exhibit of paintings in various mediums by Laurence Danel-Moore from Feb. 19 through March 23, with an opening reception in the library’s Daniels Room Saturday, Feb. 19, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Born in Lyon, France, Danel-Moore moved to the United States in 1987, and began painting about the same time. A professional career as a physician, researcher and acupuncturist allowed her to travel the world, which she credits with widening her spectrum of life.
“I’ve been able to channel these experiences into my paintings, all the while delivering the emotions that each moment or place has evoked in me,” she stated.
Danel-Moore recently moved with her family from Woods Hole, Mass., to Hancock. She has explored oil, pastel, watercolor and the application of gold and silver leaves to depict nature landscapes and provincial villages. Experimenting with paint surfaces, she has worked on canvas, paper and wood. She describes her creative style as minimalistic, and her artistic process as always evolving. A recent project was a cookbook she illustrated with watercolor scenes from the Provence region of France.
More information and paintings can be viewed on her website.
The exhibit can be viewed in the Daniels Room of the Hancock Town Library during regular library hours of 2 to 6 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
