The Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce has named the GFA Federal Credit Union as the 2016 winner of the Business/Education Partner of the Year Award. The company will be recognized at the Chamber breakfast on Wednesday at Reynolds Hall, 51 Concord St., Peterborough, from 7:30 to 9 a.m.

This award is presented for exemplary contributions to the Chamberโ€™s education goals: linking business and education communities by actively supporting real-world learning, fostering partnerships, and promoting a well-trained workforce.

In 2014, GFA launched a financial literacy partnership with the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce and ConVal High School, helping provide budget management and financial decision making tools for juniors and seniors. After a series of classroom exercises jointly taught by GFA employees and ConVal staff members, the students then participate in a real-life exercise called the Reality Fair, where students use typical starting pay for their chosen career to see if they can balance a home budget.

Recent Business/Education honorees have been Daraโ€™s Paw Spaw, Monadnock Community Hospital, New Hampshire Ball Bearings, and Charles DeVinne DVM at the Animal Care Clinic.
