Snow was falling on the manger in Bennington for the annual live Nativity at the Bennington Congregational Church Sunday.
The pageant, a longtime community tradition, was directed by Molly Eppig and narrated by Cate Stahl. Alan Bissette led the Christmas carols, and Tom James, Jeff Sweeney and Don Hardwick Jr. played the three wise men. Jeanette Regis played an angel, and Teri Hardwick acted as Gabriel. The voice of Gabriel was read by Kristie French LaPlante, and her daughter Lindsey was the voice of Mary.
Bruce Nixon played Herod the Great, and Doris Maloon and Hannah Sweeney played innkeepers. Linda and Steve Osienski of Glory Be Farm brought three sheep for the shepherds to watch over. Bennington’s 4-H group organized a tree stroll at the Town Hall, followed by hot cocoa and a fire pit on the town common. The Nativity was followed by a parade of lighted trucks sponsored by the Fire Department.
