Deering poet Jeanne Bartlett and Hancock author Jarvis Coffin will appear at Bob’s Chocolate Cafe in Francestown on Friday, Sept. 11, at 6:30 p.m. for an evening of readings and conversation on rural life.
Bartlett’s poetry and prose draw on a lifetime in Deering, exploring nature, kinship, aging, loss, and small-town life. She is also known locally as the former proprietor of The Far End, a shop and gathering space in Deering.
Coffin, a former co-owner of the historic Hancock Inn, writes essays and fiction set in southern New Hampshire. His collection, “Calmly on the Waters: Seasonal Essays from Monadnock,” features observations inspired by life beside a pond in the Monadnock region.
Moderated by David Gleason, the program will feature short readings from both authors and a discussion on how the region shapes their writing.
Bob’s Chocolate Cafe is located in a restored barn at 1 Main St. in Francestown.
