Monadnock Area Transitional Shelter has received a grant from the Fry Family Charitable Fund, a donor-advised fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, to support its work with individuals experiencing homelessness in the Monadnock Region.
The grant will help advance MATS’ mission of providing safe housing, compassionate support and referral services for people working to stabilize their lives and move toward permanent housing.
Founded 35 years ago by community members responding to rising homelessness in the region, MATS has since acquired two apartment buildings. In addition to offering private living spaces, the organization provides individualized support to participants as they work toward long-term housing stability.
The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation is the state’s community foundation and awards more than $70 million annually in grants and scholarships.
