A group of unprepared hikers was rescued from Mount Monadnock Friday, April 10.

New Hampshire Fish and Game Department conservation officers were contacted at 8:20 p.m. with a report that a group of hikers was calling for help on the mountain. Three minors from Massachusetts were reportedly “not dressed for the falling temperatures, did not have proper footwear or gear for the snow and ice” and had no lights.

They were stranded on the Red Spot Trail.

Two conservation officers hiked up to where the group was stranded and made contact on the Old Ski Path Trail at 10:10 p.m. The hikers were provided with gear and then were escorted to Monadnock Headquarters located on Poole Road, arriving by 11 p.m.

“New Hampshire Fish and Game would like to remind hikers that even though the weather is warming up, icy and winter like conditions can still exists on the summits of New Hampshiresโ€™ mountains,” they said in a written release.
