Peterborough will launch its master plan update on Saturday, May 2, with a Jane Jacobs Walk & Roll focused on community visioning. Inspired by writer and planner Jane Jacobs, these walks are held nationwide on the first weekend in May as a way for communities to gather onโ€‘theโ€‘ground insight and share their voices about the future of their town.

The kickoff includes a 10 a.m. walking tour through downtown, followed by a guided visioning session in the park, and a 1 p.m. bike-and-running tour along the Common Path with discussion stops and a closing visioning session.

The update will be organized around themes including economic vitality, historic resources, natural resources and housing, with vision as the first topic.

The Master Plan guides what gets built, what gets protected and how tax dollars are used. Organizers said past plans helped preserve the Elizabeth Yates McGreal House, support Catholic Charitiesโ€™ workforce housing development, create the HeatSmart+ rebate program and improve walking conditions on lower Union Street.

The steering committee will gather public input throughout the spring and summer. More information is available at tinyurl.com/pboro2026.
