Ayotte’s silence is disappointing

Dear Editor:

The continued silence coming out of Governor Kelly Ayotteโ€™s office re the Libertarian Party of New Hampshireโ€™s communications around Andru Volinsky and Christian Urrutia is disappointing and cowardly. (Is she not the governor for all Granite Staters?) The LPNHโ€™s blatant hate speech, attempts at silencing and yes, incitement to violence aimed at two politicians goes beyond the pale. And all for espousing a modest tax to offset high property taxes so our public schools can be more fairly funded. Whether you agree with what seems a fair-minded plan to tax income or not, it should be clear to Liberals, Libertarians, Republicans and Democrats alike that the LPNHโ€™s recent social media posts are akin to those of what most clear-headed thinkers would label common to terrorist organizations. Ayotte, Attorney General John Formella and every sane state lawmaker and keeper should condemn the dangerous posts. Enough with the tired old โ€œPledgeโ€ nonsense. Itโ€™s long past time for all of us to consider a carefully crafted tax plan that will help our public schools while providing exemptions and credits for households that struggle to make ends meet.
