The Peterborough Police and Fire Departments responded to a reported single-vehicle crash on Elm Hill Road along Route 123 at 6:20 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8.
When they arrived, responders found a white 2022 Subaru resting against a tree off the side of the road. No damage to the vehicle was reported.
“The initial call was for a vehicle-telephone pole collision. It was redetermined as a medical emergency,” said Peterborough Fire Chief Ed Walker.
The vehicle’s sole occupant, driver Matthew Zinicola, 51, of New Ipswich, was found not breathing. Responders removed Zinicola from the vehicle and immediately administered CPR.
Zinicola was transported by ambulance to Monadnock Community Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Cardiac arrest was listed as the cause of death.
