Peterborough police responded to a single-vehicle crash Monday morning on Route 124 in Sharon.

Police were called to the scene at about 11:20 a.m. Dec. 29 after a 2019 Ford Escape traveling eastbound slid off the roadway and struck a tree just west of Swamp Road. The vehicle sustained significant damage.

The SUV was carrying three female occupants from Greenville. The driver, Elizabeth Bezanson, 44, suffered a torso injury. An 11-year-old passenger sustained a minor head injury, while a 15-year-old passenger was not injured. All three were transported by ambulance to Monadnock Community Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Peterborough Police Chief Scott Guinard said the crash was caused by hazardous road conditions due to freezing rain and icy surfaces.
