A two-car crash at the intersection of Elm Street and Dublin Road seriously injured three people Tuesday morning, with one woman flown by medical helicopter to Elliot Hospital in Manchester after being freed from the wreckage.

The Peterborough Fire Department responded to the crash on Route 101 at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, and found three women seriously injured.

Peterborough Police Chief Scott Guinard said a Toyota Prius was turning left from Elm Street onto Route 101 when it was struck by a westbound Mazda.

“The front end of the Mazda hit the driver’s side of the Prius, resulting in heavy damage,” said Peterborough Fire Chief Ed Walker.

The crash backed up traffic near the Shawโ€™s and CVS rotary as emergency personnel worked to free the injured occupants.

The Mazdaโ€™s driver, Sarah Craioveanu, 33, of Hooksett, was transported by ambulance to Cheshire Medical Center. The driver of the Prius, Terry Govan, 60, of Peterborough, was flown by medical helicopter to Elliot Hospital in Manchester. A passenger in the Prius, Amelia Leuschner, 20, of Peterborough, was taken by ambulance to Monadnock Community Hospital.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
