First responders from Dublin, Peterborough and Marlborough freed two people from a mangled vehicle after a crash Sunday night in Dublin.

Firefighters from three departments used hydraulic rescue tools to free two seriously injured people trapped in a vehicle that crashed into a tree Sunday night in front of 1323 Main St., also known as Route 101, in Dublin.

When members of the Dublin Fire Department and Peterborough Fire and Rescue arrived around 8 p.m., they found a heavily damaged vehicle with two people trapped inside.

“We had two occupants of a single vehicle into a tree. There was extensive extrication required to remove the occupants from the vehicle,” Dublin Fire Chief Tom Vanderbilt said Monday morning.

The Marlborough Fire Department was called in to provide additional manpower and a second Jaws of Life hydraulic rescue tool.

One victim was taken by ambulance to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene. The second victim was taken by ambulance to Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, then flown by the DHART (Dartmouth Hitchcock Advanced Response Team) helicopter to a larger medical facility.

State police are investigating a single-car accident that left two people seriously injured Sunday night in Dublin.

According to Vanderbilt, the vehicle was traveling west on Route 101 near Wilderness Creations when it struck a tree on the same side of the road. He said the crash was not weather-related.

“It is not a really a tricky spot. We assume there were other factors involved in the crash, and the State Police are investigating,” Vanderbilt said.
