A Jaffrey woman was taken into custody Monday afternoon after fleeing a traffic stop in Marlborough and leading police on a short pursuit during a snowstorm.
According to the Marlborough Police Department, officers stopped a vehicle on Dec. 2 at 4:51 p.m. on Route 124 near Thatcher Hill Road for a motor vehicle violation. Police also had information that the 51-year-old driver was wanted on an Involuntary Emergency Admission order intended to prevent harm to herself or others.
Although the woman initially pulled over, she sped away and refused to stop. With multiple officers on duty due to the storm, Marlborough police were able to deploy spike strips near the Marlborough Public Works garage, deflating all four tires within a mile of the pursuit’s start.
The chase continued at low speeds onto Laurel Street and McKinley Circle, where the driver pulled into a driveway and attempted to flee on foot. Officers quickly took her into custody and found she was carrying a large fixed-blade knife.
She was transported to Monadnock Community Hospital for mental health treatment and charged with disobeying an officer and resisting arrest. Police reported no injuries or property damage aside from the suspect vehicle’s flattened tires.
The Dublin Police Department and Keene Towing and Recovery assisted at the scene.
