Applications are open through Jan. 31 for the Daughters of the American Revolution’s America 250! Scholarship, which will award 10 scholarships of $25,000 each to students studying American history in 2026. The scholarship program marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Undergraduate and graduate students majoring in American history at an accredited U.S. college or university in 2026 are eligible. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, hold at least a 3.5 GPA and submit a one-page essay on either the nation’s founding or the applicant’s volunteer service. Transcripts and letters of recommendation are also required.
DAR officials said the expanded scholarship program reflects the organization’s commitment to supporting the next generation of historians during the nation’s semiquincentennial. DAR typically awards more than 30 scholarships each year, totaling about $250,000, but the America 250! awards represent the largest single scholarship amounts the organization has offered.
Students are encouraged to apply early through the DAR Academic Works scholarship portal, where additional scholarships may be available. More information is available at dar.academicworks.com or by emailing america250scholarship@nsdar.org.
