
Peterborough Folk Music will present Eileen Ivers with her band at The Park Theatre, 19 Main St. in Jaffrey, Saturday, Aug. 17, at 7 p.m. The show had been scheduled for March 23, but was postponed due to weather.
Ivers is a Grammy-winning, Emmy-nominated artist who has played with the London Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops and guest-starred with over 50 orchestras. She is a nine-time All-Ireland Fiddle Champion who has performed with Sting, Hall and Oates, as part of “Riverdance,” The Chieftains, in “Fiddlers 3” with Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg and Regina Carter and Patti Smith.
She is a founding member of Cherish the Ladies, and her movie soundtracks include “Gangs of New York.” She has performed for presidents and royalty.
The daughter of Irish immigrants, Ivers grew up in the Bronx, New York, and has been rooted in Irish traditional music since the age of 8. After graduating magna cum laude in mathematics from Iona College and while continuing her post-graduate work in mathematics, she immersed herself in the different genres of music which she experienced growing up in New York.
