ConVal School Board member Jerome Wilson of Peterborough has announced that he will be stepping down, short of his term ending in 2022.
He provided notice to the board after Tuesday’s meeting, citing personal reasons for his resignation.
“While I had planned on finishing out the remaining months of my term, I find that due to family responsibilities, I am no longer able to devote the time commitment which is needed to be an effective board member,” he wrote in the notice.
Wilson’s departure will be effective Nov. 30, or as soon as a replacement is found and sworn in. He stated that his departure at this time will allow his replacement time to become familiar with and participate in the budget process.
“My years on the board have provided me with a deep appreciation for the commitment that the board members, administrators, teachers and staff have demonstrated in providing a quality education and related services for our students, parents and community members,” Wilson wrote. “I wish you all continued success in these endeavors.”
Board Chair Tim Theberge said a replacement has not been selected yet. The process asks the remaining members from Peterborough, Richard Dunning, Janine Lesser and Greg Kriebel, to select someone. If they cannot agree by majority, the Select Board will appoint someone. Theberge said that as soon as someone is selected and accepts, they will be sworn in and hold the seat until the next School Board election.
