On Monday, the Jaffrey-Rindge School Board met to discuss the ramifications of last week’s deliberative session, in particular a $3 million cut to the proposed budget for the coming school year.
Leaving the Jaffrey-Rindge school deliberative session on Feb. 5, one could only feel disheartened at the irresponsibility of those who were leading a negative group of people. While they thought that cutting the school budget by $3 million would solve the problem of school taxes, they only made it worse especially for the children.
The proposed CTE addition for the Jaffrey-Rindge School District is an amazing opportunity. This will open doors for students that otherwise wouldn’t be available.
In 2023 and 2024, I wrote a letter to the Ledger-Transcript of facts, opinions and common sense regarding the school taxes, along with more hiring of administrators and the implementation of programs of Common Core, CRT, DEI and SEL, along with the meeting I attended to hear Education Commissioner Frank Edelblut regarding enrollment decline and the proficiency standings in math and reading.
The Fitzwater Honors Ceremony and Medallion Lecture honoring Theo Spanos Dunfey, president and executive director of Global Citizens Circle, originally scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 13, has been postponed due to expected inclement weather.
Rylee Herr of Rindge was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2024 semester at Lasell University.

Residents at a packed deliberative session for the Jaffrey-Rindge Cooperative District slashed the proposed budget by $3 million Wednesday, leaving the proposed budget at $30.76 million.
The Rindge Conservation Commission will host a hike through a snowy landscape under the light of the Full Snow Moon on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 6:30 p.m. at Tetreault Park. The hike will begin at the log cabin behind the parking area on Rand Road, about half a mile west of U.S. 202.

Residents made several amendments to warrant articles during Saturday’s nearly five-hour long deliberative session, including shortening and softening an article calling for a feasibility study for the withdrawal of Rindge from the local cooperative school district.

Rindge police responded to two crashes due to road conditions on Friday and Monday, including a rollover crash on Friday.
Stephen Hicks of Rindge and Yile Yu of Dublin were named to the dean's list at Bob Jones University for the fall 2024 semester. The dean's list recognizes students who achieve a grade point average of 3.0 to 3.74 during the semester. Hicks is a freshman engineering major, and Yu is a junior communication major.
Heather Gonyea of Rindge was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2024 semester at Western New England University. Gonyea is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science.
