For the second year, Wilton-Lyndeborough Cooperative Middle High School hosted a Senior Project Extravaganza, where all seniors present their projects on the same day.
“The seniors may choose any topic (within reason) to study for their project, which has three main components: a minimum of 15 pages of research on their topic; they must complete an applied piece that demonstrates what they’ve learned, and finally they must present their findings to a panel of teachers and an audience of their peers and community members in 20 to 25 minutes,” math teacher Bill Comerford explained.
Presentations were spaced throughout the school day May 15.
“The best part of the senior project is that there are always a few students who are not typically known for their academic prowess who do an amazing job on their senior project because it was a topic that they were passionate about,” said Comerford. “The students always present on such a wide range of topics, and this year was no different.”
Topics of presentations included car racing, firefighting, archery, video game design, horseback riding, engineering and design, tattoo art, animation, nursing, landscaping, weight training, nutrition, gravity, playwriting, motorcycles, fashion, baseball, neuroscience, sound engineering, barbecue smoking, thrill-seeking and Latin American culture.
