Letter: Stephanie Kokal for library trustee

To quote Benjamin Franklin, the father of our public libraries, “These libraries have improved the general conversation of the Americans, made the common tradesmen and farmers as intelligent as most gentlemen from other countries.”
As a candidate for library trustee in Greenfield, I too understand the importance our library has on the greater community. It is a place to learn, grow and thrive, and it helps strengthen our bonds with one another. Anyone of us can utilize the library to self-educate, which is arguably the most-powerful education of all.
My plans are to work in partnership with the library director and trustees to help create an environment that increases usage and expands program attendance with a careful eye on the budget. I plan to also support the current effort of creating an outdoor space that is welcoming, beautiful and utilizes the area in a practical way.
Greenfield has been my chosen home for over 20 years. My husband and I have raised our three sons here and have been blessed with seven grandchildren, all of whom live here now. My passion, commitment and desire to serve is strong and without reservation. I am asking for your vote on March 11.
Stephanie Kokal
