Resident suggests part-time superintendent

Given Wilton-Lyndeborough Superintendent Peter Weaver’s announcement that he will step away from his position at the end of the next academic year, Lyndeborough resident Jonathan Vanderhoff used the public comment section of Tuesday’s School Board meeting to suggest that the board consider making the post a part-time position in the future.
“Past superintendents said that this could be a part-time job, and that was when there were more students in the district,” said Vanderhoff. “We might be able to get by without a full-time superintendent.”
The board took no action following this suggestion.
In another matter, the board filled a vacancy by voting to appoint a former member to an open seat.
Darlene Anzalone of Lyndeborough noted her background as someone “who feels like you can never do enough as a parent of a child in the schools” when she addressed the board. Weaver spoke to Anzalone’s efforts in the district in endorsing her appointment, which the board approved unanimously. The vacancy on the board was created when Lyndeborough member Geoffrey Allen resigned his seat to become Lyndeborough’s town administrator this month.
It was also announced that the district’s parent teacher organization raised $5,400 by collaborating with the Lions Club on a penny sale last month. Crystal Gill, co-president of the PTO, said that this figure represents 50% of receipts, the balance going to the Lions.
