Rindge joins Purple Heart Trail

After officially voting to become a Purple Heart Town in May, signs denoting that status have been installed on the side of two of Rindge’s highways.
The Purple Heart is a military honor given to those wounded in the line of duty. Becoming a Purple Heart Town adds Rindge to a string of towns, roads and monuments that make up the Purple Heart Trail, which honors recipients with purple signs at the entrances to the participating towns. The trail originates at a monument at Mount Vernon, Va., with states across the country having adopted the signs.
The Rindge Veterans Association donated the cost of purchasing the two signs, which were recently received and posted on Route 119 and Route 202 town lines.
