The Peterborough Recycling Center will begin collecting No. 6 plastic, including expanded polystyrene (Styrofoam), on Friday, Dec. 27, at 500 Sharon Road, Peterborough. This initiative is a collaboration between the center’s staff and its advisory committee.

Accepted items include clean coolers (with tape and labels removed), meat and produce trays, egg cartons, packing blocks, plates, cups, coffee cups and food clamshells. Excluded materials are bubble wrap, packing peanuts, foam board insulation and items without a No. 6 recycling symbol.

Collected Styrofoam will be transported to the Gilford Solid Waste Center, 100 Recycle Way, Gilford, for processing.

For questions or to volunteer for collection events or transportation efforts, contact Gretchen Rae in the Department of Public Works at grae@peterboroughnh.gov or 603-924-8000, Ext. 101.
