Peterborough Select Board approves funding requests

On Tuesday, Select Board members approved requests of more than $100,000 in various town projects and investments.
First, the board approved of allocating $60,000 from the Police Department Fleet Management Capital Reserve Fund for a new police cruiser.
The board also approved of allocating $57,600 from the Bridge Restoration Fund for the July bond payment related to the Main Street Bridge construction.
Additionally, the board approved $8,318.92 from the Landfill Pollution Abatement Fund for water testing at the Scott-Mitchell landfill. According to Town Administrator Nicole MacStay, the landfill has been reported for carrying volatile organic compounds caused by operations at New Hampshire Ball Bearings in Peterborough. Water testing will ensure landfill cleanliness and will also include the addition of chlorine to the water.
In addition to the landfill water testing, the board approved Amendment No. 2 of the New Hampshire Drinking Water & Groundwater Trust Fund Grant to change the completion date from Sept. 1, 2023, to Dec. 31, 2025.
Lastly, the board approved of the encumbrance of up to $55,000 for the paving of the Elm Street sidewalk.
In other news, Select Board members appointed four new officials to town boards. Eric Bowman will be a member of the Economic Development Authority. Heather Murphy and Kyle Murphy will both be members of the Greater Downtown TIF Advisory Committee. All three will serve until 2026.
Lastly, Andrew Dunbar will serve as an alternate member of the Planning Board until 2024.
