The Rindge Conservation Commission will kick off its annual Hike and Paddle Series with a free, family hike at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 15, at the Contoocook Marsh Conservation Complex.
The event coincides with Pollinator Week and focuses on native pollinators, the plants they depend on, and how to protect their habitat.
Participants will meet at the parking area on County Road, about 1 1/2 miles north of Route 119 off US-202. The hike follows well-defined trails through fields and woodlands, with stops to observe pollinators, invasive plants and a pollinator garden. Sunscreen, bug spray and water are recommended.
The series highlights Rindge’s trails, forests and wetlands, with each outing led by a Conservation Commission member familiar with the land’s natural features and history. Upcoming events include a geology-focused walk at Mattabeseck Wildlife Corridor on July 13 for National Rock Day, a hike and paddle at Converse Meadow on Aug. 17 for World Photography Day, a dog-friendly walk at Tetreault Park on Sept. 14 for Hug Your Hound Day and a fall hike at Miriam Hunt Memorial Forest on Oct. 19 during Bat Appreciation Month.
All events are free, open to the public and held rain or shine. For information, send email to rindgeconcom@rindgenh.gov
