New Hampshire recently won the Eastern High School Cross Country Ski Championships with a squad that included several skiers from the Monadnock region who ski for the Dublin XC club.
Teams from New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts and New York compete in the event, which consists of four races over three days: a 5-kilometer skate individual start, a 7½-kilometer classic mass start, a 1.2-kilometer “ski cross” spring race with obstacles and jumps and a mixed medley relay that includes four races of each gender doing both skate and classic techniques on a 2-kilometer course.
Teams consist of 48 racers, 24 of each gender, drawn from public schools, private schools and club teams across the state.
Oliver Wilson from the Dublin School and Dublin XC won the skate race, the sprint race and the overall competition. Other Dublin XC skiers included Jed Bentley, Nathan Klonel, Will Putnam, Sully Sturtz, Eric Fulton, Eli Baer, Ella Hoy, Alexis Hills, Holland Calcutt and Elizabeth Trafton.
Dublin XC coach Kathy Maddock also was the coach for the New Hampshire team.
