Christian McEwen, a multiple-time MacDowell fellow, will read from her new book, “In Praise of Listening” at Toadstool Bookshop at 12 Depot St. in Peterborough Saturday, June 1, at 11 a.m. She will be joined by her publisher, Sarah Bauhan, who will play some whistle and flute.

“In Praise of Listening”reflects on listening in a series of chapters, each one focused on a different theme. McEwen considers this the sister volume of her book “World Enough & Time, On Creativity and Slowing Down.”
