HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Local athletes compete in state championships

Two members of the ConVal boys track team participated in the Division II state indoor track and field championships at Plymouth State University on Sunday. 

Junior William Simard medaled and finished fifth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9 minutes, 9.05 seconds.  Simard also ran 1,500 meters in 4:28.88.

Senior Jamie Post ran a personal best 8.77 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles and finished ninth overall. 

Conant High School also sent a pair of athletes to the event. Senior Kaden Colby made it to the finals of the 55-meter hurdles after clocking a time of 8.68 seconds in the preliminaries. He finished  seventh overall.

Junior Alexis Kulczyk made her first appearance in the state meet, representing the Orioles in the shot put.

ALPINE SKIINGConVal girls finish ninth at states

ConVal finished ninth out of 12 teams in the girls’ Division 2 Alpine skiing championships Monday at Crotched Mountain. 

Jen Hopkins turned in the top performance for ConVal, as her combined time of 1:30.71 was good for 19th overall.

Izzy Jobin was 36th in 1:46.75, and Campbell Maggs was 48th in  2:11.19.
