Kiwanis of Peterborough recently donated a total of $6,600 to local food programs, including the Peterborough Food Pantry, the Jaffrey Food Pantry, the Antrim Food Pantry and the Sunshine Fund.

“These organizations do outstanding work in helping our neighbors and we’re delighted that we can assist their efforts,” stated Rob Koch, president, Kiwanis of Peterborough. “And there’s no better time of year than the holidays to provide that support.”

Kiwanis of Peterborough raises money primarily through yard sales and online marketing of donated furniture and other items. The group also raises money through selling food at special events held locally.

“Every dollar that comes in goes right back into the community,” Koch stated. “We focus on contributing to programs that directly serve the kids but we also address other needs as well.”

Last year, the group contributed a total of $31,000 to local community organizations.

“We’re fortunate that we’ve been able to raise enough money to make a decent impact locally,” Koch stated. “And we’re always looking for new members to help us in that mission.”
