Letter: Not very Christian

There have been many times over my past 26 years as a subscriber and New Ipswich resident that I have disagreed with my neighbor Brian Somero, but never more strongly than after reading his letter “Assessing the Christian vote.”

First, he has no need to "stick up" for actual Christians. Those are the people who believe in welcoming the stranger, feeding the poor, not judging others, etc. It seems he is actually more interested in sticking up for Donald Trump, a man who exemplifies the seven deadly sins and then some. \

He also speaks of abortion as "killing children," which it is not; it is a medical procedure which should be decided between a woman and her doctor. It may be against whatever religion he follows, but his is not the only religion, and many people are another faith, atheist or agnostic. As far as I know, we are not yet a theocracy.

He goes on to attack LGBTQ people. That is bigoted, wrong and very un-Christian. He refers to "our all-knowing God." Again, he is wrong, as we don't all worship his God and I am thankful for that. He says Trump protects Christian values even though he is thrice-married, a multiple cheater and convicted felon who doesn't attend church and can't cite a favorite Bible verse. You know who does and can? Both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Both are in loving, committed marriages, another thing you could never say about Trump. Trump may have won the election, but America certainly lost, and I, along with many others, am waiting to see just how bad Trump's second term will be.
